The Kids

The kids are all doing well.
Samantha is almost 13! Wow!
I feel so old.
She broke her arm on the 3rd.
She was jumping on the trampoline, watching fireworks, and did a flip right off.
She hit the ground and rolled 3 times.
The doctors think she broke a growth plate.
Here she is, haming it up for the camera.

Derik is going to be 9 in September.
He is always bouncing off the walls, and making me laugh.
He really is a joy in my life.

Maren will be 7 in December.
She is the cutest thing.
She got her hair cut a few months ago.
My mom cut it and then Maren looked up at her,
shook her hair out, and said "It makes mr feel young again!"
It was so funny! We laughed about it for weeks!

I really am blessed to be apart of my family!

Wilderness Youth Confrence

Sorry I havn't blogged in a while!
I've been super busy!
I just got back from Youth Confrence.
It was AMAZING!
THE most spiritual, and fun experiance of my life!
We headed up to the Rye, Colorado Ward Building at about 5:00 on Thursday evening.
Once we got there they seperated us into Families.
I was in the Green 4 group.
There were 10 other kids in my group, + the wonderful Brother and Sister Taylor were our Ma and Pa.
We played a bunch of get to know you games, and gave each other nick names.
I was Cowgirl.
And we made our family banner.
Then, after a opening ceremony in the chapel we set out in Families to start a 3 mile, almost all uphill, hike in the dark!
It was going pretty well, until we hit a Swamp that they refer to as The Beaver Pond.
We were so muddy! 2 of our girls were up to thier hips in mud!
1 of our girls lostr both her shoes in it! Luckly we were able to find them.
We finally reached our camp at about 1:15 A.M.
We set up our tents in the dark, and then went to sleep.
The next morning they gave us an orange for breakfast AND lunch, and then we set out for our first game.
We ended up playing 12 very challenging "games", and we had to prossecing sessions.
The game that scared me the most was the Fireman Catch.
You had to climb a ladder 9 feet up, and then step onto one rope, while holding on to the other, and walk out to the middle of the rope.
Meanwhile, below you, your family and a few other adults waited with the bouncy part of a trampoline.
They had threaded a rope through the loops that normally attatch it to the springs.
Every one was holding on to the rope and streching it tight.
Once you reached the middle, you were supposed to lean back and fall!!!
I hate heights, and was therefore VERY scared!
But I did it! And I was so proud!
After that we played a bunch of other games, several of which, involved the boys picking up the girls and throwing them over a rope, or passing them through a hole.
It was extremally nerve racking!

This is me and My new Confrence Friend, Chari.

On Friday night we climbed to the top of the mountain and held a Flag Ceremony, where each Family got to tell everyone about their flag. It was very spiritual and even while sitting there in the rain, I still felt warm.

On Saturday we had the "spiritual upliftment, after the physical beat down" as they put it.

We went up into the middle of the San Isebel National Forest, where we got to participate in the most spiritual activity of our lives. We did something called a Solo. This is where each of us went and found our own "Sacred Grove" and we got an entire hour and a half to complete 5 requirements from the Stake Presidant. These included praying aloud, journaling, and the last thing they had us do is open a sealed envelope that we had been given before we left our Family.
What was in that sealed envelope, was what made the entire trip worth it fot me.
Inside the envelope, were letters from our Mom and our Dad. Telling us what we meant to them, and bearing thier testimonies.
Icried more that day then I think I have ever cried in my life.

This is my Sacred Grove.

I will tell you this though, while it was difficult, it was soo spiritual, and THE most beautiful place I've ever been in my life!
